Reaction to cutting down on Bisoprolol??

I just started 5 mg of bisoprolol a few nights ago. I wake up feeling terrible but it doesn't last and yesterday for the first time in a long time I felt great, got so much done but was a little worried because my BP and resting HR was pretty low so I decided to try only taking half a pill last night. Woke up again feeling terrible but it passed but as soon as I got up and started moving I felt TERRIBLE, dizzy, nauseous, chest feels tight (had the tight chest yesterday), feel like I am at the verge of a full blown panic attack.....long story short could this be cause I took a half dose and because it is still the morning and I took it last night should I try taking the other half now?

I am on Bisoprolol for my Blood pressure and to help with anxiety, they started me on 1.25mg for BP & then increased to 2.5mg for the anxiety. (I am on another tablet for BP aswell). I take mine in the morning though. I do have lightheadedness at times but i also suffer from BPPV so never sure if its that or the drugs, the thing that helps me is drinking plenty of water.

Bisoprolol is one of those drugs that cant just be stopped, but as you only took half the dose it shouldn't affect you too much. I'm no Doctor but i would leave it & just take the prescribed dose again as your Dr instructed. If you are concerned about your BP dropping call your Dr and see what they say.

Just remember that anxiety can manifest itself in lots of ways including dizziness, tightness in the chest, fast pulse etc. Try some deep breathing & then go for a walk or do something you enjoy doing to take your mind of all the physical symptoms.

Hope you feel better soon and are able to take control back from the arse that is anxiety x

Thanks for replying, I ended up having a full blown panic attack but was able to pull it back together. I wish everyone could spend a day in the body of someone with anxiety so they could get "it". I see my cardiologist on Tuesday so I'll talk to him about how I have been feeling. I'll take the full dose again tonight and hope for a good day tomorrow.

I really hope you do have a better day tomorrow. I live with anxiety & it’s the pits. It came on 7 yrs ago out of the blue, bp was sky high after 20 yrs stable on meds, I had panic attacks & could hardly function, Drs just kept saying it’s anxiety do deep breathing etc. After a third opinion I was sent for a scan & they found a tumour on my adrenal gland (it was a pheochromacytoma) pumping adrenaline round my body constantly, hence the anxiety & high bp! I finally had it removed four and a half yrs ago along with my adrenal gland. It was benign thankfully but I was left with health anxiety.

I have had to put so much effort into convincing myself that every twinge, ache or pain isn’t something serious. It’s been exhausting, but I am getting there.

I’m glad you’re seeing someone & I truly hope they give you the reassurance you need. Hang in there & hopefully you’ll come through this stronger & able to manage it better xx

Hi Ozmama, i feel your pain with Anxiety it is the most horrible thing i think a person can go through, i have been suffering with Anxiety for 14 years and it got really better but in October 2018 it came with a vengence and ended up in Hospital on Xmas Day with a SVT, since being released from Hospital i am now on Bisraprol 2.5 mg and even though my anxiety got better its still there, now being almost 6 weeks on Bisraprol i get a bit of shortness of breath but i don't know if that is the anxiety or the medication, the comment that Hails 57 made about trying to reassure yourself that every pain you get in the chest is just your anxiety is draining i can relate to that 100%.

Some time ago I was prescribed bisoprolol 5mg for high BP and anxiety..I also take ramapril for high blood pressure...they have certainly regulated my blood pressure for some time. I did experience sever tiredness on the bisoprolol for some time, I think it still adds to my fatigue which I feel often..

I would say take as prescribed by your dr, if you are making changes to how they were prescribed let your dr know..

I don’t appear to have any side affects so far, other than the exhaustion...

Best wishes x
