I know I've posted about this before but right now my thoughts are all over the place and I need some reassurance. A lot of the time I feel not in control or crazy and these thoughts trigger a ton of other negative thoughts. Im scared that when I have a crazy, werid, or negative thought that im actually crazy. My over thinking makes me feel like I'm awake in a nightmare.
Over thinking : I know I've posted about... - Anxiety Support
Over thinking
You're not alone and you're not going 'crazy'. This is really common. You can manage these thoughts with help. Have you tried DBT, talk to your GP about it, you may need some medication to help you get the best from this therapy. There is a way back to being ok in your own head.
People who are really " crazy" are not rational, and have zero insight, and you have both!
The upside to your obsessive thoughts, is that you are aware of them, so you are [ totally] fine.
more or less.
Obsessive thoughts have a life of their own, and shutting them off takes some finesse.
Meds are a good first line for those of us who have this little "charmer" in our lives..........,otherwise, strong focus and physical activity will side track those darlings.
you can't have those obsessive thoughts when you are on chin up # 43...........
Youtube will be your best friend when that happens.
I don't think it's human nature to be purely logical. All of us on this board get irrational anxious thoughts, after all. Some years ago I read the Feeling Good Handbook (David Burns). I think it was that book which talked about the fear of going crazy, because it's quite common with anxiety patients. Anxiety isn't rational but many of his patients felt anxious about becoming more generally insane.
You know you have anxiety and a lot of anxiety patients worry about going crazy, so it seems most likely that you're simply part of that group.
What kinds of thoughts are you having, if they're not too personal? Probably most people have weird ideas pop into their minds sometimes, I know I do. Like me you know the thoughts are weird, which is a good reason to think you're not crazy!
Hello Lindsey,
Am sending hugs from here to you. I know sometimes life can be overwhelming but try and focus on something good or happy moment. Try and find something that will distract you. I know it can be difficult to shake the feeling off but don’t give up trying. It will hopefully get better with time. Look for something inspirational that will lift your spirit up. Keep taking deep breath every know and then even if you are not feeling weird.
Hi Lindsey, I can confirm Damian's recommendation of David Burns book. You can just go to the bit you need help with and it's easy to read. If you are waiting for therapy it's an excellent self help book - like it says it helps you change your thinking to feel good. It's not a cure all but it's helped me several times.
I hear you ... I am deep breathing right now because I have been feeling negatively too try meditating on the present moment if you can or deep breath and focus on a task like really get into something listening to music writing cooking something that takes your full attention. Very best to you Lindsey14
