Ugagurl, have you ever made a sincere effort to try CBT? I can't say enough about how well it worked for me - it completely turned around my negative and unrealistic thought process back to a more healthy and balanced one. It is a very simple process but it takes some work and commitment. In fact, I tend to be a bit lazy at times and often found myself just letting go of the anxious thoughts because I couldn't be bothered to get up and go do the entry in my journal. It was like "ok I can let this thought get me scared and worked up but that means I then have to go and write about all this", so instead I decided I would just let it go. This started happening after about three weeks of diligent work in my journal and I've never had to deal with another attack since then. I have to say my anxiety was considered "mild" but it did cause panic attacks. The literature shows that CBT is often more effective and longer lasting than meds.
