it sounds ridiculous but have you tried the usual tips and tricks? like hot milk before bed, meditation etc. it may help prevent the attacks occurring but in an event when they do, you need to focus every ounce of energy you have on your breathing. try to remind yourself that you will not die and that the attack will pass soon. I wish you well and hope this helps.

Thanks for replying I have tired those and they haven’t helped so far :( but thank you for the kind words and the response I might just write notes and put it on my nightstand so if I wake up I can see it right away

That's also a really good idea, anything would be worth a shot to help relieve the stress you get, the notes can remind you that you will be okay!! I hope you had a lovely christmas

I Have Had That Happen Several Times & It SUX !* You Are Having A Full Blown ANXIETY Attack. Your Body Had An "ADRENALIN DUMP". [ your subconscious found a trigger somewhere in your sleep and made the dump. could had been a dream ? or/ just spillover ] It's Scares The Crap Outa Ya Too. I Started Making SURE I Took One Of My BENZOs At Bedtime & It Helped ALLOT..... [ and remember. the "fear" of having another can trigger another. so don't be afraid to rest ] .....

Benzos ? Are Valium, Xanax, Ect.... [ they are great "CLUTCH MEDS" but they should be used as such...can be very addictive... takem' as your doc says and you'll be fine ] THOSE Meds Are For Calming The Immediate Attack Itself but can help you rest and prevent those night attacks....] see a doctor.....

Oh ok I don’t have any of those. I will ask my doctor when I go back

Hi! I hope you get better.

Are you a lone? For me I feel that when I sleep a lone I get these thoughts but when someone stays with me. We talk and chat and these thoughts don't come because I'm busy with something. Try to take several deep breathes and talk to yourself a lot during this time. I swear I went through what you are saying suddenly at night and I remember that I used to run out of my room without knowing where to go. But then I always said to my self with a voice "calm down this is nothing ok. This happen to you many times and you have to stop it" and believe it does work because your brain will focus and your body will calm. I hope you get better because these feelings really sucks☹ but you are strong and you can do it👍

Did you have a bad dream that led up to this? I had one that woke me up around 0200, then the panic attack set in and I just could not go to bed after that. I mostly now just listen to deep sleep relaxing music as I sleep, which really helps me, also actually pray now, which somehow helps me. Just remember its all in your head, you will not die.

Sorry, you have such bad experiences trying to sleep. Have you had anything very serious physically or emotionally happen before your sleep issues started? If so, you may want to discuss that with a friend or someone you trust, or your doctor. There are ways to deal with nightmares and anxiety without medication.

Benzo is just a short version of the full medical chemical name for certain medications that may help sometimes with anxiety, sleep, and zillion other issues. I have intense nightmares that used to cause me to just walk and walk around the house to shake them off. Sometimes I just did not go to bed or sleep one or two nights.......read and worked on things I had let go...like the laundry. By the end on day two, without two nights of sleep, my body was ready to sleep....and I guess so was my mind. Hope you have better nights this new year of 2019!

Thanks! No I haven’t just my anxiety has been off the charts lately and I just been having attacks in my self. I just started back taking Paxil and I take it before bed could that be it?

I am seeing a medical doctor now so I have no Benzo’s I just moved to this area and all of the psychiatrist I called told me that they wouldnt have anything and to call back after the first of the year. I am going back to my medical doctor also I need to have a physical too

First thing: get out of bed immediately. You don't want your brain to start associating your bedroom with an attack. Then do what you can to calm yourself down. Breathing exercises work well, splashing cold water on your face will slow your heart rate, and drinking something (hot or cold, doesn't matter) will help. When you go back to bed, grab the heaviest blanket you own (or several, if they're all thin) and put it on top of your normal bedding. This is called "grounding" and it works wonders.
