Waking up to rapid heart beats

For the last couple of days I have been waking up to rapid heart beats...it’s doesnt hurt or anything but Im very scared...this issue has just started happening out of nowhere. Does anyone know what could be the cause of this or should I visit the ER ASAP?

It’s worth getting checked out but if only happening when you wake up then maybe just going to the doctor normally than ER?

I had the same thing in December, 2017. Scared the crap out of me. Same as you, it came out of nowhere and I didn't think I was stressed out. It's a year later with many doctor and specialist visits and my cause is overactive mind and stress. My heart doctor said my heart is all good. Go get a routine physical with your doctor and tell him/her about it. Probably just some stress or anxiety but get it checked out.
