Convincing myself I’m having a heart attack.

Every night I have at least one panic attack where I’m convinced I’m going to have a heart attack. A few weeks ago I read an article how women symptoms present differently than men. So now I symptom spot and work myself up. Or I’ll have an panic attack and since my heart it racing I’ll freak out. I’m starting to wake up in the middle of the night having panic attacks. I hate feeling so out of control.

Hi I don’t know if this will help but I have had panic attacks on and off for years. I have recently been put on sertraline anti depressant and I think it has helped with my negative thought pattern. Before that when an attack was coming on I get up and watch a film this helps takes my mind off the attack because staying in bed and not being distracted makes the attack worse.

Thank you. I’ve been on sertraline for 10 months now. It definitely helped. About a month ago my anxiety got really bad again. So I just got my dosage upped and am waiting to see if it helps.

I also get really bad attacks at night and I just turn my ceiling fan on close my eyes really tight and if my husband is home I grip his hand really tight, if its really bad and I can’t get calm I have to get up and get some water. Sending virtual hugs cause those night attacks are bad.

You need to see your GP if not already.

Discussing y that your fears the Doctor will try to put your worries to rest and move you on.

This sounds like it is token Anxiety, so your heart, is ok and it is your stress that is causing your fear. However your GP MAY arrange a Scan to put your mind at rest, if this is the case and all comes back clear, consider the result and move on with confidence that your fears are all in the mind
