Talk me down, over reacting but anxiety telling me I’m having a heart attack.

For the past few days (3-4) my medication doesn’t seem to be keeping my anxiety at bay.

Tonight I have pain in my upper back, fullness in the middle of my chest, lump in my throat, nausea, and tingling in my jaw. Obviously because of my health anxiety I am now convinced I am having a heart attack because these are symptoms of a female heart attack. Do I need to be calling 999? What should I do, worried if I don’t phone I’ll die and also if I do phone and I’m going to be ok - I don’t want to waste their time.

Boomdiay88, you are never wasting the time of the Paramedics or ER doctors.

Do what you have to. I wish you well. xx

Boomdiay88, have you called your doctor and explained

your symptoms? That might help reduce some of your fear

right now. The doctor knows your health history and can

better advise you. xx

It’s 9pm - my gp surgery closes at 6pm.

I could phone the non emergent 111 number but they’ll patch me through to 999 and send an ambulance out anyway.

Just sitting in my comfort zone (my bed) trying to calm myself. Think it’s just an anxiety attack - had quite the day. Just my anxiety is telling me I’m on my way out. Horrible feeling like this.

Thank you Agora1

I’m still awake, think it’s starting to ease a bit now so hopefully I’ll get to sleep soon.

Thank you for your concern and I will check in with you in the morning ❤️

I had a pretty restless night sleep, my chest is still pretty painful, I’m putting that down to the costochondritis, going to pop ibuprofen this morning and if that doesn’t settle it, I’ll go see my gp this afternoon.

Hi Boomdiay, I have Costo too so I do know that can be painful...however I would

feel better and you would too if you did see your GP. Let us know. xx

Boomdiay88, how are you feeling ?

I don’t know how things work in the UK but here in the USA we have urgent care and emergency room ! Is there any urgent care clinic you can go to see a doctor ?

We also have 24 hours nurses through the insurance company who can talk to you and let you know what you should do . Not sure if it works the same there .

I have been in your spot a few times and I know how terrifying it is !

Please keep us posted !

We have a telephone service that’s non emergent 111, which we can phone for medical advice and they can arrange for a dr to phone back, other than that it would be 999 for emergency services or going to the emergency department of the hospital.

I just hate the thought of wasting their time, particularly because I’ve been checked over 6 times this year and they always put it down to anxiety attacks, which I’m sure is what I’m having. It just feels horrible, I feel like it’s starting to ease a bit now. It’s 10.30pm here and hopefully it’ll ease off enough for me to get to sleep before midnight. Anxiety is just so horrible.

Thank you foxglove :)

Yes , anxiety is horrible ! If you have to go please don’t hesitate ! You are not wasting anyone’s time !

I went to the Urgent care this weekend ! I drove to the ER and turned around and went to the Urgent care instead.

If you feel like you need to chat please send me a message anytime ! It is 2:37 pm here .
