Is 40mg of Prozac safe?

So I stopped taking my medication for panic disorder probably over a year ago. Originally I was precribed Prozac by my pediatrician. I am now 18 and am looking into seeing a psychiatrist but the wait list is 1-2 months. I have some leftover Prozac at 40mg and I was wondering if it would be okay for me to start taking that. Is it safe for me to go directly to 40mg? (I’m guessing it’s okay because I went at the beginning of this year to start meds again and my doctor just gave me 40mg to start with again)

Could you see a GP or other health professional for advice before you take it? I dont know where you live but in the UK they usually like to keep an eye on you when starting SSRIs because the side effects tend to be worse in the first few weeks. It sounds as if you need some support so would be best to involve a health professional rather than taking it with no support.
