I’m a sophomore in high school and I’ve been struggling with fear of throwing up since 2nd grade. I went into counseling for it and it went away. Fast forward to the end of freshman year and I just felt nauseous at every little thing. The awful part is, it’s summer and it’s still happening. I can’t eat without feeling nauseous anymore. I don’t eat unless I really have to. I’ve gone to the doctor and he thought it was just like acid reflux but it’s not. He prescribed some acid medicine and the pills they give to chemo patients to stop nausea. I took those during exam week because I was to stressed and sick, they didn’t even help much. I know it’s all in my head and it’s most likely anxiety but I need to get a hold of it before it ruins my life for good. I’m only 14 and I don’t want to feel nauseous anymore. Its hard to go out places anymore. does anybody have any suggestions or is going through the same thing? thanks

I can’t stop feeling nauseous
You have a fear of throwing up. But have you ever actually been sick. Probably not. So don't fear throwing up in public. Nausea is a very common symptom of anxiety. I see you have realised that for yourself. If all other medical investigations say you're fine yhen anxiety is the culprit.
I've had nausea when I'm anxious, not as bad as you I admit. You treat it the same as all the symptoms of anxiety. You accept them (for the time being), just let them have their day. By accepting them you stop pumping out fear hormones which sensitise your nerves. Fear is at the bottom of all anxiety disorders. No fear, no symtoms. No symptoms, no nausea. Easy, see.
So just accept the bad feelings, anxiety cannot kill you or cripple you, it does not have the power.
In the meantime a recipe half as old as time for something that will help the nausea. Buy a small piece of fresh ginger root fron the fruit and veg section of any supermarket. Slice it paper thin, put it into a mug and pour hot water over it. Allow it to infuse and then sip it, either hot or cold.
You will recover from this nausea, it is only the product of an over sensitised nervous system constantly fed by fear. Accept it instead of fearing it and you're heading in the right direction to recover.
