Recently, I've often wondered if I'm developing early signs of schizophrenia. You see, my mom was diagnosed as schizophrenic and hers is at an advanced stage - she sees people in her house, thinks people are following her, has odd mannerisms, has names for the people who come in the house such as Paperclip, and the list goes on.
I was diagnosed with MDD and GAD at a very young age and the symptoms of those and the early signs of schizophrenia are very similar. Are there any definite signs of that disorder? I don't have halluncinations and as far as delusions go, I don't think I have any special power or talent, I actually feel quite oppositely about myself.
Any insight would be helpful. It's been on my mind a good bit.

I believe that the fact you are aware of the mental illness and are able to see you don’t have the symptoms means you absolutely don’t have it. People who do have schizophrenia just think it’s a everyday thing and don’t realize it.
I wouldn’t worry about it. I believe the more it’s on your mind the more you will talk yourself into having it and then your anxiety will set in.
Always talk to your doctor if you have any worries about it.
But the fact you are able to see what is reality and what isn’t, is a really big sign you’re fine.
I think it boils down to a fear of turning out like my mom, as much as I love her. She certainly doesn't believe she's schizophrenic but she has any and every sign of that disorder.
