Does anyone get anxiety triggered by traffic lights,especially waiting for trains to pass. I get really dizzy and get fuzzy eye sight and very sweaty hands and feet. It happens worst at night time when the lights are really bright.
Crazy right.

Don't look straight at the light. I kind of like red lights because they provide a few moments to relax. But keep your eyes away from the light and breath.
Hi jennylove12, No...you're not losing it by any means. I remember that feeling all too well. Both traffic lights and especially the long wait for the train to pass. I would experience all the symptoms that you do. It's a part of feeling trapped and not being in control to do what you want. But there are always ways around things if we don't allow fear to take over our rational thinking.
I would always stay in the left lane when approaching a railroad crossing just in case the gates came down, I had the option to make a U Turn and relieve some of my stress. Most of the time, I did not have to do that but after putting the car in park, I would take out a piece of gum. Chewing gum and allowing our muscles to move, helps reduce some of the adrenaline. Also do not focus on each and every car passing, that would feed into my dizzyheaded feeling. Instead use deep breathing, exhaling long and slow, it will help in lowering your adrenaline as well as keeping your mind on each breath.
Breathe...knowing you aren't trapped, you always have the option to leave. One day you will be able to stop in the right lane against the curb and calmly wait for the train to pass without a care because you will be deep breathing your way to success. Takes practice but at least you know you're not alone in feeling like this. We're not crazy, we just have an over sensitized nervous system xx
I feel the same way when a train passes. I get very dizzy, almost like vertigo. I feel sick to my stomach at times, even from the sound. I keep my music loud and my eyes focused on something or somewhere I can not see the train. Or try focusing on waiting for the end of the train to come, do not stare straight ahead at the train. I also get frustrated by lights just remember to breath and try your best to take in your surroundings. It will help you feel more relaxed, hopefully. If not, start counting how many seconds are between lights. It will distract your mind and should add patience to your wait. Try and keep in mind, it won't be for much longer.
