New to venlafaxine

I was on sertraline for 5 months but did not do much so a pyschartrist recommend i should be on venlafaxine, anyway I did the switch a week ago and I am on 35.7mg X2 morning and night. I felt quite good at first but now anxiety is coming back quite bad, I have depersonalisation disorder which I've had for 12 years and I'm hoping that venlafaxine will cure my anxiety and depersonalization. I was on citalopram for 7 years before sertraline but that didn't do much either come to think of it. I'm hoping a ssni will work instead of a ssri and I'm hoping when I reach the dose that hits the norepinephrine it will help. I read lots of horror stories about coming off this drug but I aint bothered about that I just want my normal self back.

Ask about a Test they can do to tell exactly what your body needs ! It’s a Swab Test !! Also remember Anti Depressants Don’t completely solve Anxiety! They just give you a start , or a little help !!

Also Anxiety is not Real ! Just let it be their ! No one even knows but you ! The more time you spend trying to fight it !! The longer it will stay !!😊

Hi Pamdon81

I can relate to your post I've been on sertraline and my psychiatrist put me on venlafaxine same dose I've been on it for 16 years I know it's long time it is hard to come off but it does work and you've only been on a it a week it's takes at least 2 weeks to kick in properly it could take even longer everyone is different...I find venlafaxine does help but with me it will work for a long time then suddenly I will have bad anxiety for about 3 days then my Dr ups my dose then it calms down then I go back to my original dosage on 300mg a day now these are 150mg capsules and they are slow release tablets so they are always in your system they are better that the tablet you may be better off on the capsules cuz with the tablets they don't stay in your system as long as the capsules do it's so confusing I know but my Dr has also put me on propranlol only 10mg x2 a day and they calm you down loads they seem to take the edge off but other meds are different for other people persevere with them my friend they are good when they in ya system they are good

Hope I've helped somehow

Am on 375 mg a day , tried to come off twice as felt great, never ever again,, it is great .. Highest dose, but feel normal, of course, you should go on courses to and classes to help solve And give you Mental tools to deal with it.. Talking about it helps ,now a volunteer with a mental health group
