I take a half a Xanax when I have particular bad attacks, but in the past week I had to do this 3 times (so 1 and a half pills), and I am worried about addiction to this. I know Benzodiazepines are highly addictive, and doctors don't prescribe long term, and some have horrible seizures when they stop taking them. I don't want to get addicted, but these seem to be the main thing that helps when I am feeling particularly panicked.

DustinS85. Benzos can be our lifesaver in times of bad panics. They are meant to take responsibly (as you do) in times of great need. They become addictive when we just pop them like candy without a thought. Even if you took them every day as my doctor had prescribed, when I did get off them, it was done slowly, safely under a doctor's guidance with no fear of seizures if done properly.
Take that out of the picture because it is just adding stress to your already stressed out state. Use other methods of relaxing when you can, saving the benzos in dire needs and you will be okay. Using deep breathing can be just as calming as a chill pill when done daily. Deep breathing helps the Mind/Body Connection and can be very beneficial in reducing stress and anxiety. Hope this helps you some.
I try to drink Chamomile tea and stress teas as an alternative. It’s not even remotely the same, but it’s better than nothing!
