Tight chest

Anyone awake right now? My anxiety is so bad tonight. I was fine then when I tried to go to sleep my chest went really tight nd feels like I can’t get a good enough breath. I feel like I need a big burp. Don’t know if that’s making me feel like I can’t breathe properly or panicking is making it worse

Hey Lyns1411... I’m sorry to hear about that.

Please try to make for your self a cup of tea (green tea) and sip it while sitting comfortably on a chair.

Then listen to this clip from YouTube youtu.be/YeM2yhULSVM when you feel comfortable enough and no more panicky moments.. listen more and more to the affirmation until you can finally feel sleepy.

Sorry my English not that good but I hope it helps.

I totally understand this feeling. When I have an anxiety attack, my chest tightens and feels worse when I am laying down, almost like there is a fullness in my chest and does feel like it is hard to breathe. I'm sorry you are going through this, but take comfort in the fact that you are not the only one who feels like this. When my anxiety was at its worse, all my attacks felt like that. It's painful, but you will be ok. You may not be able to get much sleep tonight unfortunately, but that's ok. Sometimes when I have my anxiety attacks that make my chest tighter when I lay down, I have to sit back up or even stand and I just have to accept the fact that sleep is just not going to happen right away tonight. So pull out a good book or watch a show maybe. I find online quizzes help calm and distract me. I know most say not to look at screen so it won't stimulate your brain and keep you awake longer but, anxiety is stimulating enough so I think it will be ok. :) Also, there are apps for your phone where you can "color" things in. Kind of like the adult coloring book trend but there are apps now too and they always really help me calm down.

Hope this helps! Let us know if you need to chat more. :)

Thanks for your lovely reply’s. I am starting to calm down now. I think your right about not having much sleep tonight but I can live with that cos whenever I have panic attacks the adrenaline pumping thru my body keeps me awake nd I don’t normally fall asleep til bout 4am. It’s not helping that I’m stuck at home with a broken ankle with metal plates in cos I’m not getting to see many ppl so once the kids go to school I’m on my own all day and too much time to overthink

Boil some water, put a banana in it still with the peal. Boil for 7 minutes, put a shot of cinnamon in it and sip. The magnesium from the banana will help with stress and falling asleep.

I moved from the tea to a pure magnesium supplement and also a melatonin.

Both seem to really help out. I also downloaded the app, insight timer, and use the meditations. I was skeptical at first but the positive ones help me.
