Hi jennylove12, I did Water Aerobics 5x a week. The water was energizing, the instructor was motivating by exercising to music with a beat and the social aspect lifted the spirit. For me, water was more comforting because of having Fibromyalgia as well. It worked for both disorders in lifting the Endorphin levels. xx

Swimming or Tai Chi if you have no physical disabilities , and even with disabilities Tai Chi can still be useful ! Some people think Tai Chi is a martial art (it sort of is but it involves No violence) it's more like a shadow dance and can be like meditation , personally I used to really enjoy it, I felt like I was in a sort of trance like state ! unfortunately my disabilities means I can no longer get back into it .swimming or jacuzzi tub are also both good as your muscles can get a good work out, even with my physical disabilities I could still exercise my muscles it's my agoraphobia that stops me.

Hi Jennylove12,

I find walking on a daily basis very helpful. I’m lucky to be able to walk to work (10 mns each way - not much but it’s a start) and I go for a longer walk after work. Again, I live near the countryside so I’m lucky to be able to enjoy lovely surroundings too.

I’ve started swimming once a week and that helps too.

I also go to Qigong classes (similar to Tai chi) which I love as I find it so therapeutic.

Good luck and take care 😊xx

I have started running 2 to 3 times a week 5k each time which helps with my anxiety and I’m going to look into water aerobics and look into tai chi. Swimming isn’t my strong suit but I give it a go.

It certainly interesting to c how exercise help alleviate anxiety and the benefits of exercise on health issues,if really goes to show that we as people are not made to just sit down all day. Thanks to all for reply very insightful

I've heard the same thing, but I haven't tried it because my anxeity is sometimes so bad I can't leave the house. But I have lost almost 50 pounds and No excercise. My anxeity causes me to lose my appetite. I needed to lose weight I have health issues, cholesterol, diabetes n acid reflux. The anxeity is suppose to make things Worse. I believe it does, but I can't control it.

My acid reflux is gone. I just had blood work done. I'll find out the results this coming Friday.

I need to excercise because all I do is lay down. My muscles are in bad shape. When I do get out, it takes a week to recover. I keep saying that I'll do it, then talk myself out of it.

I love Pilates personally. I find it relaxing and de-stressing. It’s quite social if you want it to be. Yoga is similar too.

Pilates and yoga are both really helpful I think. They help to calm the mind and focus on the present.

Hi jennylove, I agree with Maxpower22 that cycling works a treat. I worked about 6 1/2 miles from home and used to cycle as much as I could, the only thing that stopped me was the weather i.e. if it was raining or icy (I wear glasses so I find it difficult to cycle in the rain as I can't see properly). I also power walk and this is my favourite exercise of all but I do hear that yoga is also very good and one I've yet to try.

I think any exercise would help. I ride my stationary bike. It makes my headaches go away. For me it is better than walking. I think anything that is high energy to get you endorphins moving. My Therapist let me know what happens when you exercise. It is not just because you believe exercise helps, there is a chemical reason it helps. As I understand endorphins act as pain relievers, working on the nervous system. I understand that anxiety is the result of over sensitized(stressed) nerves. Exercise works we have documented facts to support it. Enjoy!

Tai chi is lovely and brilliant for anxiety as you have to concentrate fully so it stops any unwelcome thoughts Have a look on You Tube if you want to do it at home Good luck 💐

Tai Chi is a wonderful form of relaxation, meditation and breathing while doing repetitive gentle movements of the body. Very peaceful and calming. I agree with you Cat33. xx

Yoga or regular silence meditation it helps your brain fuction and your depression or anxiety decrease ! 👌🏻😩

I just put my favourite music on and dance around as I'm tidying up, nobody to see you so you can let yourself go...it's such a lovely feeling! If you're not so hot on your feet you can sit and move just as well on a chair.
