I had a dream where I was struggling to breath and after waking up I’ve been feeling short of breath and chest tightness all morning. Has anybody experienced this before?

that could be very serious, you should talk to your doctor about it. It could be sleep apnea, this is the google def.:

Sleep apnea, also spelled sleep apnoea, is a sleep disorder characterized by pauses in breathing or periods of shallow breathing during sleep. Each pause can last for a few seconds to a few minutes and they happen many times a night. In the most common form, this follows loud snoring.

I’ve been tested for that. My doctor says it’s my anxiety. I was just curious as to if anybody as experienced anything similar where you dream something and wake up feeling what you felt in your dream, wether it be breathing or running in your dream and wake up to your legs sore.

Thousands of people experience it, Yuzy, you are not alone. This is what Claire Weekes, the self-help author, called 'the iron hoof on the chest'. After stomach complaints chest discomfirt and breathlessness are the most common symptoms of health anxiety.

Read Claire Weekes' book 'Self help with your nerves' it's ages old but still one of the best, you can pick a copy up new ir used for just a few £$ on Amazon. It has cured thousands of anxiety as you will see if you read some of the reader reviews.

You're just continuing when you wake up where you left off when you were dreaming. The shadow of a shadow. BTW in the U.S. the same book is titled 'Hope and help for your nerves'. Don't worry everything is going to work out o.k.

I use to have this a lot. I started to get complaints from my family that I snore a lot. I went for a sleep test I now sleep with a cpap mask let me say this was the best thing I ever did no more shortness of breath while sleeping. Just a suggestion
