Does anyone here have to deal with tachycardia. I first got this when my iron levels were very low. Took me twelve months to get iron levels up to healthy range but I still get tachycardia. I also have anxiety, panic attacks & depression. All sux but tachycardia is my biggest issue. How do you deal with it?

Tachycardia

Most people get tachycardia with anxiety. I know I do! I also have anemia so my iron is low. Usually my tachycardia is from anxiety, exercise or foods. Are you being treated for it? I have had a cardiac workup. My mom and dad both were one year older than me when they had heart surgery and heart attack. As long as that is your only symptom then you should be okay. Does it come and go? If you stay tachycardic for long periods you should get it checked. Short runs while otherwise asymptomatic can be caused be anxiety, diet, exercise etc. Just try to breathe through it calmly and try relaxation techniques. The more you focus on it the more it will continue. Try not to pay attention to it. If you have not been checked out maybe make a chart with date/time rate duration activity. Don’t obsess. Just make a note close the book and try to relax. Avoid caffeine. I hope this helps. You may need to see a therapist as well to help with anxiety coping methods. See a doctor at least once for it and make a chart to take. A 24 hour halter monitor may be a good idea. Be leery of heart rate apps. They are often unreliable.
Thanks for your reply. It does come in short spurts. It usually calms down after ten to fifteen minutes. Couple of times its taken longer. Have had holter monitor which detected fast but steady heart beat so they didn't seemed to be concerned. Was taking betablockers but stopped as I was getting bad cramps from them. Had many tests all ok. I think the only one I haven't seen is a cardiologist. Have counselling for anxiety etc & practise mindfullness. But tachycardia still comes along. Very frustrating.
Does your Dr know you stopped beta blockers? How’s your blood pressure?
Well i have anxiety and I have bradycardia. 46 beats a minute when I last measured it. Might be partially related to anxiety, but only when you are really anxious. I think it is more to do with other underlying health issues. You may have a diet high in meat or fats, you may not be eating enough fruit and veg or exercising enough. You might be overweight. All of these have a far significant impact on a heart’s condition than anxiety.
Try cutting down on meat and dairy significantly, and cut it out completely if you can as it is bad for you, and after a few months see if your resting heart rate comes down. I think it will if you combine a good diet with regular exercise. Good luck.
It sounds like you are doing everything right. I’d still keep a chart. Apparently your doctor is well aware. Make sure you keep him informed. They usually don’t play when it comes to heart problems. I have a very significant history so my doctor goes overboard but I’m at that age also. I have to refuse some stuff. I can’t stress over medical stuff. I just take it as it comes. Living 1 day at a time has helped me significantly. Can’t change yesterday and tomorrow hasn’t come so I’m trying to just live in the now. It took a little bit but it helps.
I'm on iron pills twice a day and was put on a beta blocker. so far so good
