There's nothing wrong with your brain that a little "jump start" wouldn't fix. Our brains are meant to be stimulated by new ideas, new learnings every day. Once we get in a rut, the brain slows down. Keep your brain alive and well and it will pay off as to how you feel physically. The Mind/Body Connection. :)

Hi Agora1,

Thanks for your reply. I feel like I’m very conscious of my brain most days as recently I’ve had a new “worry” that my brain will “Stop” working or “Shut off” and make me lose the ability to move or talk. I keep questioning how our brain makes us able to talk and pickup words so quickly as we read. It’s so strange.

I just keep having this fear that my brain will turn off or when I’m doing something like typing this to you now on my iPhone I keep looking at the letters and my fingers typing wondering if it “looks right” to me. Most times when I talk I feel like I’m just standing there but I hear words coming out. It’s scary

I understand PDiVenanzo, it's anxiety doing this to you. With anxiety our minds are always going a mile a minute until we feel we can't handle one more moment of chaos. It is then our body protects us from ourselves. Giving us derealization from the anxiety. It basically is putting us "on pause" for a while. Giving us some time for an escape. The thing with anxiety though is anything different we interrupt as dangerous and we fear even a quiet respite.

There are others on the forum who deal with Depersonalization/Derealization on a daily basis. They would be better informed as in how they handle this feeling. I'm only giving you the knowledge I know behind it. My best to you x

Thanks again for your reply, Agora.

I go through Derealization quite often, however, these thoughts of my brain “turning off” seem like something different than that and I’m not sure where that fear or thought came from. I guess I just want to know how our brain makes us able to function and talk and I wanna be sure it won’t just stop.
