No period and NOT Pregnant

So I was on bc for a few years. The pill stopped my period which is considered normal with this contraceptive. I went off it in June and haven't had a period since. I'm 44. I feel like a little early for menopause.. I went to my gyno last week and he gave me a pill to hopefully kick start my period. If it doesn't he said it could be menopause! He also said if it brings it on and then I don't get it again it's dangerous. Anyone ever in this situation?

Renee123, I had a friend who got off birth control in order to start her family. She went into early menopause in her late 30's with no problems. I wish you well with the pill your doctor gave you. x

I would recommend that you ask to have your B12 and folate levels checked.

Some versions of the pill can interfere with your ability to absorb B12 from your food leading to a deficiency (symptoms of which include anxiety). Symptoms can also include a false early menopause

if it seems likely then would also suggest that you look at the PAS forum on HU as getting a B12 deficiency diagnosed can be quite difficult. If the cause was the pill though you should be able to resolve by taking oral B12 tablets of around 50mcg

I think it can take a while for your body to start doing its own thing again after coming off the pill. As long as you don't feel ill or poorly then I think relax and think hey see you when I see you period. Have you looked into aromatherapy? Good luck x
