Hi Hollieedridge,

Having a baby is a big decision with so much more to consider than just yourself.

I know that in the "ideal" situation, citalopram or any other drug for that matter should not be used during pregnancy.

It may be necessary for you to take citalopram during your pregnancy in order to remain well during the pregnancy and be able to care for your baby.

Take Texty89's advice about talking to your doctor ASAP about the risks and benefits of taking citalopram during your pregnancy compared with stopping treatment or using other treatments.

If you decide to stop taking citalopram you doctor will advise you how to do this. Remember that you should not stop taking citalopram suddenly, as this can cause withdrawal symptoms such as dizziness, sleep disturbances, headache, feeling sick or weak, pins and needles and anxiety. Your doctor will give you instructions on how to stop treatment gradually to avoid these effects.

We are here to help support along the baby journey. Go well.

Thank you x

You have got to discuss that with your obgyn and the doctor that prescribed them as soon as possible. Congratulations on your decision. I know you were anxious about it. I’m glad when you told him it went well. We are all here for you no matter what. Call your doctor Monday morning. It’s important. I’m not familiar with that Med. You can look online at the drug information. Sometimes it will say but I think most of them will say tell your doctor if you are pregnant just to cover their butt. I wish you well!
