Sometimes I'll be sitting there and a random colorful distorted spot will appear and stay for a while and then slowly go away. Is it just anxiety? Or my retina? It's only in one eye though

Could possibly be anxiety but maybe getting your eyes tested x
I've had all sorts of visual disturbances, always in one eye, due to anxiety but haven't come across that one. Eyes are so important that I recommend you get your gp to refer you to an eye doctor to have a look into your eyes using a slit lamp opthalmoscope. If nothing shows up then it must be anxiety in which case so long as you don't stress and obsess about it then it will eventually go away. To save time you could always go the the A&E/ER of an eye hospital. For example, in London Moorfields Eye Hospital in City Road near Old Street has an A&E open 365/24.
Sounds very much migraine related. Never hurts to get checked out though to be sure and put your mind at rest. Migraines do not always come with headaches..just aura.
