Intrusive thoughts caused by citalopram

Has anyone ever been on citalopram and it caused intrusive thoughts? I didn't have intrusive thoughts before I started the drug and now the thoughts are scaring me. I know citalopram hightens symptoms like intrusive thoughts but has it actually caused the thoughts for anyone and when you stopped taking them did the thoughts stop? The doctors have told me to stop taking the Meds but I'm 10 days in and think if I can push through it these Meds may help me. Anyone had similar experience where they didn't start with the thoughts but developed them when taking citalopram?
