I went to the ER today because my anxiety got so bad I thought for sure I was having multiple heart attacks. It was so scary. I was on the freeway with my son and it just started happening. One right after another. Was able to get to ER in time before I drove off the road. Had 4 more while they were examining me with the EKG. No heart problems there. WTF? Is this normal to have that many?

15 anxiety attacks in a span of 2 hours while driving a car!
What did they tell you at the er. Seems like a lot to me but I have constant thoughts I'm having a heart attack, but my mind mimics the feelings and my anxiety just makes it worse
Not much just talked about my weight might be a factor and gave me Ativan. It helped a lot. The Ativan.
Amandasgotblues, I'm sorry you experienced multiple anxiety attacks. It comes from something called "free floating" anxiety. The adrenaline never fully goes down so unless you calm down it goes from one to another until the adrenaline runs it's course. Ativan is the drug of choice used in the ER and is successful in stopping the anxiety. What you need to do while at home is to start working on slow deep breathing whenever you even get a hint of anxiety. Stop it before it escalates. As you get more practice in proper deep breathing, it will become easier. Accept that anxiety is not dangerous. It's a feeling with no severe consequences which can be controlled. Feel better x
