Feel like I'm going to stop breathing and die got shooting pains across chest my breathing feels shallow and now feel like I'm gonna collapse and die I know this is my anxiety but it's so scary feeling like this and just carnt seem to get out of it does anyone else feel the same xx

Mandy950411, you will not stop breathing. The shooting pains across your chest is the Costochondritis acting up. When you felt it, it sent up a red flag without you even knowing and you started the shallow breathing. Knowing it's anxiety is one thing but accepting that it is anxiety is another. True acceptance of what you are feeling as not being dangerous will reverse that shallow breathing and you won't feel like you are going to collapse and die.

I've lived with both Fibro and Costo for many years. It won't kill you but it will trigger your anxiety if you let it. Put something warm around your shoulders to get you to relax. I can imagine your shoulders are up to your ears right now and you are very tense. Relaxxxx feeling the heat around your shoulders, start taking short deep breaths until you are able to relax completely. Then make the breaths deeper. It will start calming you... x

Thank you so much I do put hot water bottles were the pain is but the worse the pain gets the more my anxiety starts had days when I'm happy or feel happy inside and could be happily pottering on and all of a sudden my anxiety starts and I'm not even thinking about anything do you have this also my gp keeps saying that my costhdritis should of only lasted couple of weeks it's been 8mth now but yet doc at hospital has told me it can last year's and having this on top of my finromialga isn't good think it's the pain gets me down alot my biggest fear is death knowing I've a nearly 6 yr old and nearly 13 yr old that depend on me and 42 I shouldn't be like this all the time I've got talking matters councillor rings me and at times helps but others it doesn't and the more I practice breathing the more I panic xx

Fibro is forever, costo will make it's appearance from time to time. Know that is what it is, what prompted it to reappear, address it with heat and/or an OTC pain reliever and go on with your day.

Whenever I overdo with anything around the house, the Costo will bother me but is short lived. I still say that meditation and deep breathing is the way to go. With practice it becomes so automatic to do when in pain or stress.
