I can't sleep!

I get nights where I can't sleep at all. I end up exhausted the next. Thank goodness there is no work tomorrow. 😴

Amen. Have those nights. And then they stop. Sleep tonight! :)

Not fun when they do happen though. ☺

No , I've taken to posting and writing my thoughts down at 2:58 am.

I try to occupy myself by watching the odd video and using the net but it does get boring. Most people I chat to are sound asleep by now. I usually have about two days per week that I can't sleep it probably just a habit that I can't kick.

Just have to get on with it.

I feel you😩 I'm still awake now but I normally have tablets called melatonin, there really good sleeping tablets, but I've got to pick my next lot up Monday, so until then I'm awake at night, but these tablets are great because you can take them when u don't feel sleepy for those nights u just can't sleep! Mention it to your doc! U only need to take them when required x

• in reply toExtremeanxiety

Ok next time I see the doc I will mention them, thank you.

Hi Jim atom

I take amitriptyline for anxiety and nerve damage .

I'm on a very small amount , it calms relaxes and helps you to have good sleep .Its not a sleeping tablet as such but works well for me .

• in reply toPaulina21

Ok thanks a lot for that information I appreciate it ☺

Do they make you drowsy the next day?

I have sleep walked in the past so maybe I should avoid the tablets.

Sometimes there may be many reasons we have hard time with sleep. Eating late at night, caffeine overuse, hormonal imbalances, lack of physicAL activity, stress during the day, feeling hungry, etc. Yet, the biggest culprit are usually our own thoughts. So instead of adding more to the already busy mind by watching youtube videos, perhaps a better way would be to take some of those thoughs out prior to sleep. Maybe you can alter some of your habits whatever they are that are not supporting sound sleep. A warm bath 2 hours before sleep, 30 minutes walk in the evening, maybe some yoga. For sure TV and youtube do nit work in your favor. When in ged, pick up a book instead.

I have tried everything, sometimes things work but usually not. I'm used to it now anyway but thank you for your reply I appreciate it. ☺

I know exactly what you are going through. I have been there myself, thought I was going to loose my mind. I was falling asleep totally exhausted around 6:30-7am, sleeping to 3-4pm. The cycle continued for many months. But you can retain yourself. It takęs time. The more you focus on issue of not being able to fall asleep the more the mind will work on satisfying that thought. And because you are writing here that means you are still looking for solution. However, you saying you have tried everything is probably a bit of a stretch. Isn't it? :)

Cheers :)

• in reply toskyraknight

No it isn't a stretch I have been like this for 30 years so I have tried everything.

When I had my first experience with Anxiety, I have seem more than 50 MDs and specialists over period of close to 3 years. At the end there was even no diagnisis of anxiety or any other diagnosis. I have seen doctors on 3 continents and I though I have tried everything. Little did I know that really I have tried nothing. Unless you have been tested and have genetic defect, I guarantee you there is cure for you. I have spent more than 10,000 hours over a period if few years to get to the bottom of my condion. What I found literally blew my mind. What i am saying thete is hope. Anyway, once a year there is free of charge online seminar in USA on sleep problems. Usually they have a variety of different experts on the subject. Some are MDs, some NDs, and a variety of other human health experts. Usually 20 or so. Very eye opening. Perhaps you could look it up.

I don't suffer with anxiety anymore I managed to cure myself of it. I'm in the UK and all visits to doctors etc are always free. I'm used to not sleeping some nights it's not every night that I can't sleep.

You still have anxiety?

Have you tried Valerian Root capsules or Passionflower capsules?. All natural and safe.I use Drift Off that I bought on Amazon. I also used an aromatherapy diffuser next to my bed with Lavender Oil that helps. Good Luck

• in reply toSW25

Thank you, I might look into it. ☺

I've had sleeping problems in the past and for me switching my head to where my feet go and eating some melatonin usually helps. I'm not sure why but the change in sleeping positions always seems to help me. I also occasionally use the odd guided sleep meditation on YouTube.

Very interesting, it might be worth a try then.
