Hi everyone I'm new here and just thought it was a great place to see how others are feeling.
I've recently been getting such bad anxiety. I have a bad habit of googling and symptoms that I have and force myself to believe that I have something seriously wrong with me.
Today I convinced myself that I had meningitis I went to the doctors and everything is fine so I know it's my anxiety but I just don't know what else to do :/

Sorry to hear that you've had a bad run of things lately. Is there anything that you can think of that might have caused you to start having the bad anxiety recently?? Usually there is a major "trigger" (or a bunch of little, nasty triggers) that tells your mind... "Ok mind, let's start panicking!!". If you can figure out how to start to deal with the triggers that are causing your anxiety, you'll then be in a good position to help deal with the symptoms. Did you let your doctor know that you've been feeling anxious for some time now? He or she can provide you with a bunch of information or techniques on how to cope with your anxiety, as well as making some suggestions on other proven methods to help with treatment.
A big plus, although it may not seem like a plus, is that you've realized that it is only your mind that is playing tricks on you!! For me, personally, when I started having my anxiety/depression issues, I made sure to get a complete work-up from the doctor to verify that my body was indeed healthy (which it was/is). Once you have that taken care of, you can cross that off your list of concerns!! Practicing healthy daily activities, such as making sure to get enough sleep and getting exercise and eating a healthy diet, are just a few base changes you should make to ensure that your body can provide you with the necessary energy and stamina to fight off the anxiety monster!!
Oh yes!! Higher heart rate is probably the #1 side effect of increased anxiety. Anxiety triggers your "fight or flight" reflexes, which can cause several prominent physical symptoms to pop up and say 'Hello', such as increased heart rate, blurry vision, and heightened hearing. In small doses, we don't really notice these changes, but over prolonged periods of time, they can become more noticeable and prominent.
I remember when my dad first had his stroke, and it was a very harrowing experience for me as well... but, it's been over 10 years since that day, and he's back to doing OK! Think of it as almost a blessing in disguise... although what happened was bad, hopefully your mom has made some lifestyle changes to prevent it from happening again!!
It might also be good to look into trying to get some therapy to deal with the stress of what happened. I know for me, talking to a complete stranger (at first) really allowed me to open up about my emotions, something that I couldn't even do with my wife. Albeit, I've never been a good communicator, but that's for a different time!!!
