So as of recent i have been very conscious of my breathing and so conscious that i feel like if i don't focus on my breathing then i will stop breathing. Is this normal? My therapist tells me to focus on the breath but at this point i feel like my breathing is no longer subconscious, like i have to do it manually. It is really freaking me out?!?! And it constantly makes me want to sniffle. Please help?!?! It lasts all day and it doesn't only happen if i am having a panic attack.

It's ok you won't stop breathing the fact that your conscience about it is making you freak out about it more it's ok you'll be ok...
I've had this happen before. Your mind is playing a trick on you. Theres nothing wrong with you. Try to focus on the present, rather then your breath.
Trust me you wont. This is coming from someone who has stopped breathing due to a severe chest infection. The feeling is very different! What you're actually doing is taking in too much oxygen, you're hyperventilating which is what panic attacks do to you.
Just try to take slow deep breaths.
distract yourself, watch movies, listen to your favorite music etc..i do it when im very consious with my breathing.
My breathing bother me sometimes too... When I start thinking about if I'm really breathing...u just have to focus on something else...it will get better hugs to u💕praying for u
Manually? Are you kidding? How long can you hold your breath? 30 sec? A minute? What happens next? You gasp for air! Luckily, just about the only thing you can control are your body movements. Everything else is pretty much on auto and thanks God! Your problem is your constant focus on your breathing in a negative way. When you go to sleep do you control your breath? Do you control anything?
Problem with Anxiety is that our thoughs get compulsive. We get stuck and like a record play out same thoughts over and over and over again. You have to distract yourself. Better yet that you distract yourself with something positive. Get busy. Do something good for the world. The more you focus on yourself the worst it gets. So focus on others!
