Does anyone else battle with this? Every time I feel a strange sensation I panic automatically and want to run to the ER! I don't understand why I get these symptoms out of the blue. I would like to be normal again :(

I'm suffering lately aswell so back to the doctors for me on tuesday, my mind is forever worrying and constantly thinking I'm seriously ill and i would love to feel normal again! But don't think you are alone because you are not and loads of us are going through this horrible situation but we need to stay positive

What triggered your anxiety?

Mrsamsouth profile image
Mrsamsouthā€¢ in reply toJulie_z

If i feel ill or find something i don't feel is normal that is what starts it off i think, because i straight away look on the internet and find the worse illness and think i have it and then I'm just constantly worrying 24/7. I'm not sure if my headaches are from anxiety or if I'm serious ill and obviously i think I'm seriously ill so it isn't helping my anxiety

Everyone that is suffering now w panic and anxiety disorder. You will be fine. Eliminate the possibilities of health issues. After that. Breathe. Wait. Pray. Stay calm. If you can't breathe. Hold your breath. I guarantee that you will breath. It'll erasure you that your body will take over the thoughts your mind puts there. You're not crazy. Just tied stressed out and for the most part you are thoughtful. Some of the most precious people on earth go through this. Because we worry about everyone and everything . Every single one of you will be fine. This goes away. Wen you think it's going to kill you or put u in a nut house . It just stops. If you get a moment when your thoughts are not racing. Think higher thoughts. Like. I am going to be ok. I am going to help someone that's struggling w this someday. Run out and find a child in need. A homeless person to help. A cause that speaks to you . Every time we think of others before ourselves. It helps us to not internalize. Internalizing keeps the cycle of depression anxiety and panic going strong. You will all get through this nightmare. I promise. And you will be so strong after. That all you can do is go on to defeat darkness everywhere. Bye

Have you at least been to see a Dr ? Thyroid issues can cause the same symptoms as anxiety and depression. I would get labwork to rule that out first then look into some natural magnesium supplements that work for your symptoms

I tried panicaway a few months ago and it worked for the most part but I recently started getting the sensations again and I was set back. I think I struggle with this because it's an actual feeling and not a thought. I can only pray that there is some efficient research being conducted and we'll have answers soon! I hope everything works out for you! I'm here if you need to chat!

Remember that ER is full of sick people and that you don't need any of what they have got lol. It works trust me, I remind myself of that every time I get low and panic. It is not the right place to go, come here and talk it through ok

Hi Julie_z, Welcome to the Anxiety Forum! You will find that we all have gone through this strange sensation that causes us to panic as well as running to the ER. The symptoms whether they feel as if they are coming out of the blue, aren't. Our over-sensitized nervous system is always on alert just waiting to surface and cause us panic.

Knowing this, we need to work on methods that will alleviate this fear of the sensation, the moment you feel it. Before it has time to escalate. This takes practice and patience with yourself in learning everything you can about the mind/body experience. Once you gain control of your negative thoughts, you will be able to reverse the panic immediately.

Coming to this forum is a start. You will read about other's experiences in how they deal with daily anxiety. Keep an open mind in what you read. Pick and choose what you feel may help you. Knowing that others feel the same as you may help in not feeling alone but don't let it feed into your own anxieties.

Looking forward to you joining in on conversations Julie...x

Have you got any reason for chest pain, do you have asthma or anything? Have you had tests for anything

Ananas profile image

i feel the same, when i feel the symptoms i always want to go to ER. but when i get there they always said i have hypertension! but all my lab test are all normal and i am just 24y/o. sometimes i think 90% of my time wasted thinking that i am sick!

already done with ECG, Utrasound, X-ray, 4 times blood chem. thank goodness everything are normal.im also negative to stroke and heart attack. im just scared of the panic attack, and when i think of it, i started to feel dizzy(wave sensation) also shortness of breath.

Julie_z profile image

Wow well if the panic is what scares you then I highly suggest reviewing the panic away program! It helped me with the panic aspect! Currently i am struggling with my breathing issues and am scared to take my meds

i'd tried reading articles on how to deal with anxiety, and it helps me also :) now i can control my anxiety.i stop thinking negative about my health, i keep saying to myself that "i have no problem its just anxiety". then the sensations goes away :)

Yeah I understand that scary feeling, it is so strong that it gets us so panicky. Overwhelming fear takes over, try to breath your way through and tell yourself you will be ok and i will get through this, the minute you think about it the more it will come on, you will learn to control it and not let it beat you. We all have this fear of the unknown but remind yourself how strong you are to get this far. You have just said "when I think of it" so it is not always there. You can function properly with out it, so don't let it enter your mind and distract yourself, it will phase out and you will only have this if you have a reason to fear something which is a normal instant reaction.

Xx

yes thank you for the advise :)

but i dont why it so hard to not to think about the symptoms, everytime when i feel dizzy, then start to worry about it, it become worse. im trying to distract myself then forget about it sometimes it helps but when im alone its really hard! :(

Mumof347 profile image
Mumof347ā€¢ in reply tojackf4

Yes I am absolutely with you on that. I find it hard too. It can come out of no where or you get a symptom. Do you know what causes your dizziness x

jackf4 profile image
jackf4ā€¢ in reply toMumof347

last month i went to ENT and found out its because of my neck (wrong posture), something like a pressure causing the nerves to pinched. so he gave me medicine for it for 1 week. he ask to me also to go back to check if i still feel dizzy then if yes he will undergo me to a therapy or gave me maintenance medicine.but i dont go back :D

its because i just feel this only when i start to think i'm dizzy.also when im focusing on my breathing. and then i start to feel dizzy and shortness of breath.

When you do get ill for whatever reason only then will you see the difference in yourself as to when you are healthy. Try to turn it around so that you are only using 10% of your time not so good but 90% feeling good šŸ˜Š

Agora has put it all in a nutshell I can't add to that. What made it worse for me was looking online and panicking, I don't do it anymore and it has totally changed my mindset.

I was advised not to and i stopped, it will feed your anxiety which starts a vicious cycle.

Get well soon x

I struggle with this every day. Less so now, mainly because I've been really pushing myself to accept different sensations. This book really helped me:

How to Beat Health Anxiety, by Michael Evans.

It's very short and straightforward.

Tough isn't it. We have to realise there is nothing to be afraid of, if we are not threatened by anything at that time, the feeling doesn't need to be there. Only when we need that coping mechanism will it help us to survive

Does anyone struggle taking medications due to fear of symptoms?

Agora1 profile image
Agora1ā€¢ in reply toJulie_z

Julie_z, I think all of us fear the symptoms of anxiety but fear taking medication even more, if that's possible. I use to have my prescriptions filled and then set them next to the others I hadn't taken. I did that until I turned "what if" into a positive thought and not negative.

What if I took the med that my doctor prescribed and I felt better?? I did, it worked, end of anxiety :)

Julie_z profile image
Julie_zā€¢ in reply toAgora1

Really?! I do the exact same thing! I haven't taken my Flonase due to my fear of symptoms! How long did it take for you to overcome?

Agora1 profile image
Agora1ā€¢ in reply toJulie_z

Julie, now Flonase is different. I was talking about an anti\-anxiety med (Xanax or Ativan) The Flonase will clear the breathing problem in the nasal passages but I don't think it's going to do anything for your anxiety issues. If not being able to breathe through your nose is the only issue you have, then yes, you will relax more which will make you less anxious.

I don't know if you are on other medications that may take care of your anxiety and fears. It's always been to bring these concerns up to your doctor since he knows your health history. x

Julie_zā€¢ in reply toAgora1

Ok perfect! My breathing issue is what causes me anxiety:/

Mumof347 profile image
Mumof347ā€¢ in reply toJulie_z

Yes I did do but not now. Not everyone gets them. I would monitor myself for side affects and if they are too many and outweigh the positives I would go to my GP. If it is helping i just take it and forget about it. Trial and error but don't worry too much about it, I'm sure you will relax and see the benefits
