I have a question about troponin levels on blood work. Thank you. I would call my dr but they are closed

I'm not a nurse, however have had a troponin test and understand their levels. Also ran rescue for a bit.

Okay the test confuses me.. lol

The reference range was <.25 Mine was <.20

What does hat mean? I didn't think you were supposed to have troponin.... unless there was a heart issue

Hey sorry for the late response! Are you in the UK? As I know they have different perimeters than here in the States.

Do you have an arrythmia? High blood pressure? History of chemotherapy? Ever taken medications called PPIs to lower the acid production in your stomach? All these things and more can cause a slight elevation to troponin levels. You can always ask your doctor to repeat the bloodwork for you. I hope this helps a little.

No I don't have any of these things.

Could a stress response cause elevation?
