Zoloft: I got prescribed Zoloft 25mg, how is... - Anxiety Support
Zoloft
Hi. What do you mean by "how is it"?No certain what info you're seeking.
Meaning if it's worth the side effects.. I'm a bit scared to take it
Everyone reacts different to medications. I know people that Zoloft was a life safer and for me Zoloft failed. Gave me more anxiety. It wasn't the medication for me. But that doesn't mean is not going to work for you. Just remember with all these medications it gets worse before it gets better so give it about 6 weeks to 8 weeks unless you have some major side effect. Good luck!
Talk to your doctor who prescribed this, and ask for the possible side effects it might cause you and talk about your concerns. Didn't you talk and ask the doctor about what he was prescribing when you got the rx? He and you know your body and mind better than I would.
Please remember meds are sometimes used as band-aides till you get therapy to determine what actually is at the bottom of what caused your mental health issues, so therapy is often helpful.
And it made take time to try several meds until you find the right one for you. Takes patience on your part.
After 17 years, I finally had the effective med Band-aides and the insight of what was the "live birth" of my PTSD and nightmares.....I had unfinished business with a very difficult marriage and divorce from an executive VP who was a bully...verbally abusive to me, physically and verbally abusive to his own son who we were raising. .....that happened over 25 years ago.
The horrible collision with a semi-truck definitely caused physical and brain injuries. Deep down I slowly realized with help from my professionals what triggered my PTSD and nightmares 5-7 nights a week about that marriage. At the bottom of it all was I felt no control over that marriage, left after my stepson was grown, and went back to school and just try to forget that life and divorce. I had freedom.
But I also did not have control in avoiding the truck from hitting me. The lack of control with the accident opened the actual underlying cause of my PTSD. It was the lack of control regarding the marriage, and I had unfinished business to resolve about that.
After working in therapy about that, the nightmares about that long ago marriage ended, and softened my anxiety and depression concerning the effects of the truck accident. Hope that made sense.
I hope to one day have my "band-aide" meds reduced more and perhaps discontiued.
Years ago I was prescribed Zoloft, don't remember having any bad affects, but was changed to another med that neuropsychiatrist felt would be a better "band-aid" while we trying to settle me down a bit so I could work in therapy to figure out the root cause for my anxiety/depression (PTSD) . My neuropsychiatrist is both my prescribing MD and therapist.....am been very fortunate in that .
From what I've seen, the effects really do differ per person and how much you are taking.
For me, it is exactly what I needed. Side effects eventually faded away after adjusting diet (less caffeine was the key for me), and I've been feeling great at 50mg a day.
My advice; try it for a couple months. You may feel side effects at first, but those may fade away for you and this might be exactly what you need. If it continues, consult your doc. They may have other meds that do the same thing with different side effects.
Hey this isn't to sound rude but you really shouldn't ask people about your medication only being that we're all different and react completely different to meds.. I got along really bad on them I won't go into detail as wouldn't want to scare you😂😂 but you could get on really great with them! Give them a try and see how you go on your own personal journey👍 I've just started mirtazapine and I'm hoping it'll be fine this time around x
Everyone is different and react different. I am on zoloft 175mgs and it has worked for me for years. However you can still have ups and downs. Right now I'm going through a major relapse.
This doesn't mean is not good it just means i need to work on myself.
Good luck 25mgs is a very low dosage
