Sam001, me too. I don't remember the last time I took a nap because of waking up in a nervous panic. At that time, I was on benzos which might have played into that feeling. Sorry I can't give you more input. Know that you are not imagining it.
Yes. Likely you wake up in the middle of deep sleep cycle. Take a longer nap, see what happens. No wake up alarms.
I always get that, literally feel like I'm falling and quickly jolt up, breathing heavily too.
This is normal as during a nap we sometimes go into a deep sleep then suddenly we are woken for what ever reason so we wake in mid cycle and it takes a while to get back into reality nothing to worry about as soon as we get up and start doing something the feeling will fade. So just be in the moment and still your mind until you find yourself again. Its the body telling you to rest awhile and stay with the peace which we all need from time to time.
Yes, that's why I hate to nap! On Dr. Oz show he once said that you shouldn't take more than a 10 minute nap......it will make you groggy.....and something else (I forgot what it was.).
Sam001, I've noticed that too but it only happens some times, I call it a 'bad snooze'. I wonder if it's not a mini version of what some people experience on waking in the morning if they're going through an anxious period. The received wisdom is that our bodies give us an extra squirt of the hormone cortisol when we wake up first thing so that we're ready for fight or flight but which we don't actually need any more. So it sloshes around in our bodies making us feel extrs anxious for a while. Maybe waking up nervous from a nap is a mini version of the same thing.
