So I'm going to the eye doctor on Wednesday and I'm Scared that something is going to be wrong or I'll have to get surgery or something I can't stop thinking about it and I make my self scared because I don't know what they're going to do

I am always scared to when I have to go to see a Doctor yet I ask myself why ? they are there to put anything right that might be wrong and to make us better so why do I fear been made better because anxiety get's in the way and what we fear is fear itself because that is the emotion that get's out of control and creates all these thoughts and feelings " fear " not the Doctor
The Un known as well that is the other thing that creates the fear and anxiety because when we don't know we make up the scenario ourselves and when anyone with anxiety makes up a scenario it is never positive , like they will say O you are fine there is no need for us to do anything just use these drops in your eyes twice a day no we don't think that way we think more like O dear this is dreadful you need major surgery because when we think negative like that it feeds the fear and then the anxiety can keep a good grip on us !
It is natural to feel some amount of anxiety even people that don't suffer with anxiety most will feel some when attending these kinds of appointments but try and keep it under control , it is about changing the way we think , never easy but with practice can be done , tell yourself you are powerless over what will happen if that be good or not as good as you wanted it to be but nothing life threatening will happen to you and your eye condition will get sorted and all will be good
Take the day in stages , maybe the night before getting your clothes ready and any documents etc you made need , stops us getting anxious over that on the day as well as giving us more time to , then get your breakfast , try and relax having a nice bath and get dressed , take something to distract you , maybe some music , magazine , a book , have you a lucky charm or something small you can have in your hand that you can hold that will help you feel safe if so take that or even one of those tiny stress balls , get to the place you are going , take some deep breaths before you go in and tell yourself I can do this and you will and I bet you come out wishing you had not made myself so ill worrying about it all because it won't be as bad as your fear and anxiety made it to be !
