I all of a sudden just woke up it's 7am and I had a shortness of breath and couldn't breathe so I took deep breathes and walk around and I'm better now but has anyone else got this it really scared me? I thought I was going to stop breathing

Absolutely! Yes scary , and I have friends this happens to, it's panic , and I'm glad it went away. Try , when you get up in the morning to stretch and do slow deep breathing for a few minutes to calm your body and mind down. Have a blessed day
Similar things happen to me, just not while sleeping. I had panic attacks randomly storm on me during the day. I guess the best thing to do is to calm down and occupy your mind with something else. I always try to go tlk with someone, or walk or drink some water.
Yes I have had these from time to time and it is terrifying and disorientating. From what I gather it's our subconscious minds full of anxiety sending somatic pains/feelings to our sleeping bodies. Lots of fun being woken up by a panic attack. I've been woken by electrical type jolts before, and trouble catching my breath. Please accept this as a symptom of anxiety, (easier said then done) focus on diaphragm breathing, 5 seconds in through the nose , hold for three, seven seconds out the mouth with pursed lips.( try from 5 minutes)Sip some ice water.
