THAT DARK HOLLOW TREE

SLEEP MY LIFE AWAY

MY DEAR IN THAT

HOLLOW TREE OF FEAR

OF MY SELF IM ON THAT SLELF

OF INNER COLDNESS

I WISH I WAS DREAMING

SUNKEN EYES OF

DARKNESS TELLS

YOU THIS SHIP IS SINKING

YEARS DRUGS AND DRINKING TEARS RUSH IN

AND THERE IS NO SOUND

AS THE DAY LIGHT FADES

AND TURNS TO NGHT

TO GET OUT OF THIS HOLE

FOR A SHORT TIME

BUT KNOWING I WILL RETURN

WITH THOSE DEEP INBEDDED

LINES AND DARKNESS THAT YOU

CAN NOT GET OFF YOUR FACE

AND A COBWEBBED HAIR DO

OF STRAW MAKE IT ALL GO AWAY

READ ME A STORY AT BED TIME

I REMEMBER AS A LITTLE GIRL

  • smjtty, Once again you stir my inner emotions with your poetry. I feel your hurt, I feel your loneliness. The analogy of the hollow tree of fear says it all. Wishing that mistakes we made could all be gone for a short time. How wonderful that would be to go back to that innocent time of our lives when we were safe and nurtured. Wanting a bedtime story read as you remember as a little girl. So long ago but always within us, the innocence of childhood. Sending you a hug. Your friend Agora1 x
