Emetophobia

I've been suffering with emetophobia ever since I was a little girl but from the ages of 4 to 18 if I had to be sick as unpleasant as it was I would eventually accept it was going to happen, however now at 21 years old whenever nausea hits I begin to shake, avoid food for days and cry hysterically because I'm terrified of throwing up. I am rarely physically sick I differ to a lot of emetophobes because if someone had drunk themselves stupid to the point of throwing up I would hold their hair back or even help clean up but if they tell me they have a tummy ache and then throw up I have a meltdown and immediately worry about having a stomach bug to the point when I bring on nausea all by myself and lose many nights of sleep, I was just wondering if anyone knows of any tips to deal with this phobia as it's really affecting my day to day life, thank you.

Have u tried therapy i think that will help u a big deal.

I'm exactly the same as you however, you are more brave than I still as any sickness I run a mile! But I can cope better knowing that it's from drinking not illness. I'm starting up therapy tomorrow, again in the hope it will help.

I've heard about the Thrive Programme. Sounds amazing I have the workbook which I will start. I picked mine up from amazon! They do face to face sessions but they are just under £800 😧

I can help you cope with anxiety but the emetophobia I still struggle with. Xx
