Nausea caused by anxiety?

I get health anxiety so bad and constantly worry about my health to the point where I begin to feel nauseous and even start dry heaving/attempting to vomit. The nausea feeling is very real and I wonder if it is the result of an actual health condition or just from the constant obsessing, stressing and anxiety. Can anybody relate?

Certainly anxiety can cause nausea commonly.

Are your symptoms worse when you are anxious?

If so then it's fairly certain this is due to anxiety rather than a physical cause.

Nausea is always real, but is a subjective feeling like pain. No one can deny it's presence, but it doesn't mean there is a physical problem

It definitely gets worse when I am anxious but there are times where I am not anxious and still feel extremely nauseous. And also times where I am extremely anxious and no nausea

If you are young and have not had weight loss r other worrying symptoms then it may be worth trying anti nausea medicines - seeing your GP.

I was this way for a very long time. I would gag I would throw up acid and the only time it seemed to be really bad was when I didn't have my anxiety under control. I started losing weight because I would constantly think about being sick or throwing up. Even when I would brush my teeth I would start feeling sick and start gagging really bad. But it all linked back to anxiety. Not saying that's what it is for sure for you but I realized the more you think about something especially with anxiety the worse it is. What you give power to has power over you. I would talk to your doctor if it gets out of control. Best wishes ☺

Anxiety definitely can cause nausea even to the point of vomiting. If you haven't spoken to your doctor the first step is making an appointment!

I had this same problem exactly a year ago. It was awful , I couldn't eat and as a result losts lots of weight. Had so many blood tests, even had a endoscopy and colonoscopy. I now think it was definitely stress related but also connected to my hormones. Think I may be starting perimenopause
