Mood swings

Hi I have only just joined the site.

I suffer with Anxiety and Depression and terrible mood swings. I feel rather low a lot of the time but I occasionally get a high feeling where I feel I can conquer anything.

Does anyone have any advice to share with me.

Many thanks

i have only just signed up for this site but i just want you to know i have experienced this. it is very unpleasant and i understand that it is really hard. the way i treated these feelings are find lots of different things to keep you occupied. for me it is sport << this is really the main one as it releases a lot of endorphin's also puzzles helped me a lot such as doing the Rubik's cube. look up tutorials online and follow them until you can solve it without online help. when i reached this stage if i felt down i would solve the puzzle and as i finished it i would know that i had beaten it and that things sometimes have to get worse to get better. sorry if this wasnt much help but i really hope you stay posotive. i am rooting for you

Good luck

Had the very same, up one day in the gutter the next.

Biggest thing is realising it, which appears you have.

Being able to speak to someone is one of the best cures, because there will be something that triggers the downs. I never realised I had gone down over the period of months, and when you think your on the up others would probably tell you it's not really the case if they could, my real friends did after I realised it myself and as others say your the last to know.

I have found guided meditation on you tube which does relax and lower anxiety, making sure I eat three meals a day ( because at one point I couldn't be bothered ) getting up at a fixed time and going to bed at a fixed time, then getting out for at least a half hour a day for a walk each day all help and start to give a balance back.

Staying away from negativity and negative people has been a big thing then when you have the thought yourself write it down and when you read it, you will start to think what ! Why did I think that, it stops the washing machine of thoughts and clouding of them by clearing them out.

Biggest help of all though was I saw my GP who referred me to a wellbeing clinic where you literally download your thoughts from you, a strange experience it is, but really helpful, it helps you understand the trigger that sends you on a down and for me it had nothing to do with what I thought it was and went back many years into subconscious thought.

Bit of a ramble I know but hope it's a help

Very well said Trev8124952, it seems like you have a handle on your anxiety. I agree with everything you do. I do find the guided meditation/deep breathing on YouTube is a respite for me when the anxiety is high. I like the phrase "washing machine of thoughts", it is a good analogy. Wishing you continued success.
