Clonazapam

I've been on Clonazapam for 3 years. The doctor doesn't want me to be on it forever but said its going to be real hard to get off. How will I do it. I'm still having anxiety. I need to talk to someone.

puppy11, What your doctor said is true in that he doesn't want you on it forever and that it will be hard in getting off. But....the fact that you admit that you are till having anxiety shows the doctor that the time is right. You will need support from your partner, family or friends. The idea is to take the weaning slowly so that you don't have to go back to a larger dose. Cuts in dosage are made every 2 weeks. Breaking down the dose little by little until there is barely nothing left. There is a method that allows you to wean from Klonopin while you substitute Valium which makes for an easier transition. That is the one I used after being on a small dose of Xanax daily for 30 years. It's called the Dr. Ashton Method United Kingdom. Her process of weaning off Benzos is used world wide. Take a look at it on the internet and show your doctor.

While weaning off your med show symptoms may break through, it shouldn't stop you from weaning and make you up the dose. Once off the last dose, you will experience some residual effects of being off the med until your brain heals from 3 years of being on it. As the weeks go by off of all meds you will start feeling less and less of the effects of coming off the drug and more and more of feeling normal again. You will become more lucid and not feel as if you are always in a drugged state. Your anxiety will start diminishing. Your fears will go down. It will be easier to go on with your life not worrying about anxiety, knowing you are once more in control and not the drugs.

I wish you well puppy. I'm here to support you as well as your family. Don't be afraid, it will be the best thing, you'll see. x P.S. Slow but sure...

Thank you so much! But I still have anxiety pretty bad and that's because I'm afraid of the anxiety. My mind won't stop being afraid. I'm crying all the time. I don't want to have this anxiety but I'm so afraid of it it keeps getting worse. Also, I'm not sure how to use this website really well like following the posts. Thanks
