I have have anxiety for the last 18 years. I have been taking Lexapro 10mg for the last 12 years, xnaex 1/2 .25mg as needed and atenolol (beta blocker) 25mg as needed. I had weened myslef off the lexapro in March and in May started with anixety again. It seems like when I took the lexapro before it helped, now I still have break through anxiety. It seems more around my period time, but stops a few days after I start. This last week (I was on my period as well) and the anxiety hasn't let up. I try to calm myself and say its all going to be ok, but as an anxiety suffer, we all know that's better said than done. I ended up going to a psychiatris yesterday and she wants me to up my lexapro from 10mg to 15mg (I started that this morning). However, she did mention that I should go have blood work done to check my hormone levels and also my thyroid. Has anyone had theirs checked for the same reason?

I haven't had mines checked yet, but my psychologist told me the same. I have the same symptoms as you, and I also take Lexapro.

Hi, I am a 48 old women. I have been on Lexapro around a month now, 5mg. I really can't tell if it is helping. Maybe the doctor will increase my dosage this week.

I started with 5mg as well and had to Increase to 10mg.... Didn't seem like it was working for me either. After 12 years, I started with 15mg. Hoping this anxiety goes away soon. And the weird part is I only have it in the mornings and around lunch time it seems to lighten up a lot and then starts all over in the am. Hope you start to feel better soon.

Hi again Jittery. Are you fimiliar( can't spell ) with neurotransmitters? Well I was on one cite that explained when they are not firing correctly we can experience these type of problems, and vitamins deficiencies can cause these problems as well, especially B complex, and B 12, and also magnesium. I was taking these, but I ran out. However, I still have some magnesium left. I do feel a bit better, but I don't know if it's the supplements are not. I will start back soon.

I have heard of neurotransmitters, however never looked into this. I feel like I look so much stuff up and so many different cases come up it make my anxiety worse. I just need to go have the blood work done and see what that says. Thanks for the advice.
