I can't really feel my face at the moment but when I put something cold on It besides my hands I can feel it cold or hot stuff. What is this is this numbness or anxiety?

Hi Colby, you could be suffering from Bell's palsy. However I think that is unlikely. Have you seen a doctor? Do you feel inordinately anxious? Does this sensation come and go? If it comes and goes then you probably don't have Bell's palsy. Anxiety disorder can cause us to feel so many different psychosomatic symptoms. I knew a girl who would get fits of sneezing, she would then think she couldn't breathe and would have a massive panic attack. It turned out that the sneezing was actually a part of her panic disorder. Once she got the panic disorder under control with medication the sneezing stopped and things got back to normal. Although she does still have Generalised Anxiety Disorder.

The best advice I can give you is to see a doctor. He will know your medical history and should be able to give you a diagnosis and some form of therapy, whether that be pharmaceutical or psychological.

If you have a history of anxiety, then this strange symptom is bound to make you anxious.

Seek medical advice. I probably shouldn't have mentioned Bell's palsy because from what you've described it's much more likely to be something else.

I hope you see a doctor and that she/he helps you

All the best Colby

Jack.

Hm. Do you have any other symptoms? Tingling? Have you taken any medications at any time recently? Sometimes they can cause things like that. LMK

Good, I'm glad it is not that, then. Avoid all Fluoroquinolone antibiotics if you ever have to take one. They are very bad, particularly for people with anxiety. Just a tip to keep in your pocket :) It might be worth going to the doc at some point if the numbness doesn't pass just to be safe, but avoid medications. :)

If it diminishes while you are asleep, I wonder, if you can distract yourself from it during the daytime if it will diminish too. Meanwhile, good that you have the doc's appt. Try to do things for distraction, exercise is good, even a walk. Or see a friend if you can.
