Is it possible to have a anxiety attack and not know it until it's on full force?

Yea
Yes. The worst for me is in the morning as I am getting ready to go to work and worrying about all my personal life stuff, knowing I am taking it to work with me. I shake and sweat and have trouble breathing, take all my asthma pumps, anti depressants, tracking the time as I have been spoken to at work about my punctuality, more pressure. By the time I am at work I am dripping sweat down my face, feel anxious. I work with families and have to read a story and sing, I seriously run out of breath when leading singing time, I feel terrible and want to get out of there. Hell. I can sympathise with anxiety attacks. They are a bit unpredictable and unwelcome.
I think that's possible sometimes. I don't want to speak for anyone else, but I became so used to episodes of anxiety that there were times when I didn't realise how all-consuming they were until I'd been experiencing them for quite a few minutes. Afterwards I could see how powerful they'd been. I know it isn't possible in all circumstances, but I've found that limiting as much stress as I can has helped to some extent. For example, if I feel something that someone wants me to do will put me under too much pressure I just won't do it. Again, I know this is not always possible and it's only become more do-able for me since I retired from employment.
