Hi Ticc, any particular reason for your anxiety?

Just lucky I guess. :) I really don't know. Just think there is something wrong with me all the time.

This is a great place for support! Everyone on here is great, so supportive. How long have you had anxiety?

For as long as I can remember.

Hello Tlc,

Anxiety is a miserable thing to have. Do you have a doctor you have seen about this or can you make an app't. to see one? You can see a GP, an internist or psychiatrist. I don't know your exact needs, but depression often accompanies anxiety. The anxiety can mask the depression. Your Dr. can prescribe medicine to lower your anxiety to tolerable levels. Ideally you need to know the cause and address that cause. Is it biological or maybe situational anxiety?

You can help yourself by not dwelling on the anxiety but distracting yourself from it by focusing on anything that intrigues you or gets your attention. You can exercise and that typically brings your anxiety down a notch. Watch your internal thinking and keep it as positive as possible because it does influence your symptoms. Talk yourself down rather than work yourself up. Practice monitoring your breathing as anxious persons tend to hyperventilate and feel numbness and tingling in their extremities and tongue and partially in their face at times. Consciously count your breaths in and out to slow down any fast breathing. And keep in touch with the people here as you'll get support and ideas from many caring people.

Blessings, Sue

Try going out and doing something to distract your mind. That way you're not thinking of how you have anxiety (which I find prolongs it). Try to read, listen to music, anything that'll keep you from thinking of you having anxiety. I hope you're better

Distraction is part of the answer catching the anxiety before it kicks it will stop the chemical reaction s within the brain . We have to retrain the brain and stop the thoughts in their team last so distraction is an amazing thing at helping to deal with the anxiety xx

Much love

Feeling like you can't breathe is a common symptom of panic attacks and anxiety. I always try and take slow deep breathes in through my nose and then blow out slowly through my mouth. I also rhythmically tap on my chest, a slow steady tapping motion with my fingers. It gives me something else to concentrate on and serves as a bit of a distraction. I also constantly tell myself " you know what this is...you know it is anxiety, and nothing more. I am not dying....this will not kill me...and it will pass". This helps for me. I hope some of these techniques will help you too. I found that understanding what physically is happening in the body when we are anxious or having a panic attack, how the release of adrenaline can physically affect your system also helps me. Knowledge is power! God bless you and keep you safe

I am so sorry you're feeling this way. I see this was a day ago so I hope you're better. When you wake up and have anxiety and keep thinking about it.. It absolutely can make you feel sick. If it's the middle of the night turn on a movie or wake someone up in the house that can talk to you. If you're alone a movie should be good. Distraction is key. Don't keep thinking of what you're feeling. I've gotten myself so sick and scared that I've thought I was dying. It'll be ok. Btw great name Stevie.. That's my son's name! Praying you are better!

Thank you. It is very hard to stop my thoughts sometimes. I really do try, and I know there has to be a way.
