Do y'all trust y'all's GPs when it comes to your heart?

I'm sorry to say "I don't". For years I was told I had a heart murmur which was called Mitral Valve Prolapse. Every time I saw the cardiologist the murmur was there. I was told to protect my heart by taking antibiotics before any invasive surgery or dental procedures. After 20 years of this, one day the cardiologist acted like he never saw me before by saying over and over, I DO NOT have Mitral Valve Prolapse. I no longer had to take antibiotics before dental work. Six years ago, I then developed Atrial Fib and have been on Coumadin since. The A-Fib happened in the hospital, while I was in for a week, I was told that my anxiety had caused this. The last straw was one night at 4am

I developed extremely high blood pressure and fast skipped beats. I called my cardiologist only for him to yell at me saying I woke him and his wife up. Telling me I had this before and to make an appointment when the office opens in the morning.

So, yes I have lost all trust for doctors. Their oath seems to mean nothing to some.

No. That's why a have a Cardiologist. Actually I have 2..."Electrical" and "Plumbing."

When I see my GP and have heart questions...I just save it for my Cardio doc.

Yes absolutely. She has done repeated egg's when needed, about twice a year, once thing up an extended QT interval which she was able to treat by a change of meds. I trust her 100% with my health

You are blessed. Continued good health to you.

I trust my doctor 100% with everything! She has gave me every blood test I've asked for and she thinks I've needed! If I go with chest pain or any pain she will check me over fully.. She helps me with my anxiety and sees me weekly ☺️ X

My GP follows the lead of my cardiologists, she actions treatment plans and she has written to them to second check if she or I have a different opinion . I think that by everyone ,including me! being involved in my care in this way is the ideal . I feel lucky that I have my gp on my side but I do feel that I have also built up this relationship over a period of 2yrs since I started seeing her so now we feel comfortable discussing conflicting opinions and treatments doctors have and My GP always uses Nhs guidelines and protocols to fuel her decision making x

It's true you have to build that relationship between doctor and patient so that the trust is there. Being a part of your care is important as well. x

My thing is I'm 18 and I'm always terrified I'm going to have a heart attack. My GP says I'm not and that I'm going to be fine. I just need to know if I should believe him.
