As always, get a professional naturopaths opinion on this everyone (not a doctor cause they won't have a clue about Candida). Some leading edge researchers these days believe that anxiety is in fact symptomatic of an overgrowth of Candida, never heard of Candida guys? I didn't either until I saw a naturopath during my 6 year struggle, more specifically Candida is a combination of more than 80 different poisonous toxins in the body.
Researchers are pointing fingers at this toxic waste as the main cause of anxiety especially the ones with more severe cases such as GAD. These toxins can in fact mirror and interfere with many of the body's hormones such as adrenaline for example, and when this occurs such feelings of intense anxiety can be induced. Candida can also survive by manufacturing certain toxic substances from refined carbohydrates and sugars in the digestive system.
When we visit a doctor for example we are usually pointed in the direction of a psychiatric referral, which most likely will be unsuccessful and in fact increase feelings of guilt, poor self esteem and depression, but rarely are we ever told that the sensitivity to these candida yeast toxins can in fact lead to anxiety, depression, and impaired intellectual functioning. Let's take a quick look at other symptoms of Candida overgrowth:
Chronic Fungal Infections
Foggy Mind
Depression or Mood Swings
Food Allergies
Panic Attacks
Severe PMS
Headaches
Poor Memory
Muscle or Joint Pain
Extreme Cravings for Sweets, Bread or Alcohol
Extreme Fatigue
Gastrointestinal Problems like Bloating, Diarrhea and Constipation
If you have 4 or more of these symptoms listed above you may in fact have candidiasis. Candida infections can be verified through blood and saliva testing and is also known to be found through muscle response testing. Candida is an underlying cause of anxiety and it is rare to find people whose anxiety is exclusively caused by candida overgrowth, but much of the “spaced out” feelings, seem to be released when steps are taken to overcome Candida. Hope this information helps!
