I have been given Zopiclone to help my insomnia but I'm very scared to take them as I've heard lots of bad things about this drug. Does anyone no much about them or have any positive results from taking them

Steve, I have taken them many times and I'm going to adk my GP for them on Thursday to get me back into my regular sleeping patten, I only get seven at a time as the can be really addictive, but they are really good take them hour before bed, then get in bed half hour after taking them, you have a perfect sleep and wake in the morning at the time your body clock normal wakes, I promise you have nothing at all to worry about, you'll get a good nights sleep, let me know how you get on.

I havent taken one yet. Do they relax you before sleep I don't mind that. I don't want something that just knocks me out. I have control issues with my insomnia and anxiety

No no they are fine honestly Iv just got seven today from my GP just to get my sleep back to a pattern, no take them hour you before you want to go to sleep, and you will grandually get tied, just make sure you having nothing to do, and you only have to pop yourself into bed, I sometimes wake though the night but go back to sleep so they don't knock you out completely, they just relax you, and you want to sleep, honestly don't worry I'm taking one tonight can't wait because I know I will be asleep in an hoo, not laying awake all night wanting to sleep, good luck let me know how you get on

Have you been taking them long. The doc told me they are very addictive and to only take about one a week. Your the only person who has been positive about them. I'm not sure what to do. I only got an hours sleep last night. Have you had insomnia or anxiety for long

It took about an hour and I went off about midnight. Woke up a few times but was able to get back to sleep ok, which is unusual. I will take it earlier next time. Its to be taken when needed and not every night so the label says. I feel ok no side effects and I got some sleep. To be honest I didn't notice much difference when I took it but at least I got some sleep. Thanks x

Steve I would suggest to take one every night for a week ( that's what Iv always been told ) because your body gets in to a pattern of going to sleep at a certain time and waking at the same time daily, taking now again your body's going to be just as confused as not sleeping, your body clock needs to be set, to going / waking up, that's just my advise because it's worked for me, ok let me know how your getting on

It's confusing because I was told not to take them every night. I don't know what to do really

Sandraan profile image
Sandraan in reply tosteveuk

Who told you not to take them every night ?? That's the reason for taking them to get your body into a regular pattern, that's why I'm only give 7 at a time week then go back to GP sometimes for another week, but it's usually only one week, take them again tonight and tomorrow and see how you are then

My doc told me plus it says on the label. One at night when needed but not every night. Maybe it's because I was given 28 until I see a therapist. I know I will be back to square one if I take a weeks worth because of my anxity and depression. She doesn't want me to become reliant on them.

You do whatever you think best, yes I only get 7 at a time one every night, I am stuggling with an antidpressant that had really bad side effects I have had to come off them and the withdrawal effects are just as bad, so I need to get a night s sleep, good luck with them I'm here if you need to talk anytime, but don't worry about taking them I swear by them

Hi Steve;

Yea, that insomnia I've had it off and on for years. But lately, for the last three to four years every nite unless I took ZZZ Quil. It's over the counter stuff made by Vicks. I don't know if you can get it where you are (United Kingdom ?).I get a real deep sleep and feel good in the morning. Now, I don't know if you have other problems deeper and more troubling but this works for me, I hope this works for you. I have other more troubling physical problems that makes insomnia like a dream. But I know if you don't get enough sleep you just can't think straight. Good luck . Eddie G.
