It would have been useful to know more about the 'traumatic event' you mentioned. You yourself have made the connection between that and your current condition. What you describe sounds very much like an emotional reaction to an event, so probably more anxiety based than anything else. If you are really worried and cant sleep you might go and talk with your doctor about things.
