I have been having trouble sleeping at night since a week now. I sleep and I wake up dreaming I was in a war or in the hunger games and I died. And I feel gunshots and losing consciousness in my dream and I wake up with a jolt. It's highly impairing my sleep and I don't take any meds that can cause the side affects. Does anyone know how do I cure this?

Hi love do you hear a loud bang when this happens. Its called exploding head syndrome. Sound bizarre but its a form of sleep apnea if your not sleeping well, I get the electric shock in my head that wakes me with a jolt and enormous feeling of panick, shaking heart racing gasping for air, aweful feelings and bloody scary. Let me know a little more xxx mandy😁
Hmmm, since you're not on any meds, I'm not entirely sure how best to answer this but I shall try. Dreams, particularly repetitive one's are a way of our subconscious minds telling us that something is very wrong in our lives. For instance, when my life is going haywire, I generally dream that I am in an exam situation and that I ALWAYS fail it. By way of interpretation, that tells me that there's something I'm STILL not learning in my life and until I do learn, I'm going to fail, ie, repeat the experience.
What is your mindset like during the day and before sleep? What areas (if any) of your life are you at 'war' with? What aspects of you or your life have ended, ie 'died', or perhaps should 'die' (end)?
I think dreams useful, even the one's that wake me up in a sweat and generally wreck my day Is it the dream's fault that I'm reacting this way? Nope. It's me. It's my fault. When I have really bad dreams I immediately get up, make a cuppa and try to settle down. Once I've talked myself into settling down (at least a little), I then mentally make a point of dissecting each and every aspect of the dream.
Over the years, psychologists have argued the causes and purposes of dreams. Depending on who you read, one will say that it's the brain's way of processing daily events. Others will say that it's simply electrical impulses firing away. I personally don't agree with a certain S. Freud on many issues, but I do believe he struck gold when he discussed the subconscious mind.
Peace.
