Here are some tips, based in my experience, I hope could be helpful.

1. Georgia Totto O'Keeffe (November 15, 1887 – March 6, 1986) was an American artist. She lived 99 years.

Here is a quote of her: "I've been absolutely terrified every moment of my life - and I've never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do."

Another quote: "I decided to start anew, to strip away what I had been taught."

99 years of life absolutely terrified!

First conclusion: Anxiety does not kill. On the contrary!

2. People who have suffered more anxiety were undoubtedly those who were trapped in Nazi concentration camps. If you search Google you will find most of these people are still alive. A small list:

What this means? Maybe the stress is not after all as bad as it is painted.

3. stress and anxiety are other names for one thing: FEAR. When you know what you're afraid , that's fear. When you don't know, that's anxiety and stress. But it is always fear. And WE ARE AFRAID OF HAVING...FEAR!! Fear is this: fear of fear.

4. If you do not have fear of fear , fear disappears!

5. How you can not be afraid of being afraid ? ALLOWING THE FEAR. If thou can allow fear to be present, you do not feel afraid of fear. This is totally different of fighting against fear or trying to escape it.

6. There are several techniques to allow the fear. I will mention four of them , who have helped me.

- EFT: Emotional Freedom Technique. You will find a lot of books that teach this easy technique at Amazon.
