Hi everyone I tried couple of last month to come off my citalopram without much success. Just been back to my doctor. .who tells me because I've been on the medication for 12 years I may not be successful..which makes me feel a complete failure. Has anyone on here managed it after all those years
Anxiety medication: Hi everyone I tried... - Anxiety Support
Anxiety medication
must say I was repeatedly prescribed Citalopram by my old doctor, regardless of my informing him that this medication made not an ounce of difference, this same doctor told me to stop drinking alcohol as this was the cause.Strangely,I am teetotal as alcohol is not an enjoyable experience and never drank much anyway.I wasn't too impressed with this lack of good advice,to cut a long story short,I now have a very good new doctor who has prescribed new medication and psychiatric help. Now a month into my new meds and feel like I am at least at a stage where I can face the world again.Perhaps asking your G.P to review your prescribed citalopram and dose could get things altered for the better.Good luck, where your health and peace of mind are concerned it really is worth stressing the fact that you are not experiencing any improvement with your current meds. Keep me informed please, I'm interested.Keep well.
Thank you I will. Glad your feeling better. That's the thing is im fine at mo cos I'm back on normal dose. Last time I went to see him he said oh might not be as hard as you think..don't think he realised how long I had been on them. Strange how they didn't work for you..is yours anxiety or depression x
I was treated for both and a few years ago I asked my old doctor if I was perhaps Bi polar and he cast that aside.Cut a long story short, have very good new G.P who ,after putting me into counselling, suggested I be tested for bi polar as he thought it may be a good thing to help me out of the feeling of being in limbo. So,quite relieved to have a correct diagnosis and new meds, which though I'm still getting used to,I am generally feeling more like facing the world again. So,well worth asking your doctor to review your meds if you aren't feeling any benefit. Keep well
Ahh good..glad you're feeling better. No wonder citalopram wasn't working for you
