Is it normal for a persons body to ache and hurt all the time during stress and anxiety It's funny when I don't think about my body it doesn't ache. And when I do the anxiety hits and then I worry. Thank you kind people, have good day and night.

Hello I suffered from this fir a little while! It's just caused by the tension in out muscles as sometimes we don't even realise how tense we are and can cause us to ache espically wheb we think about it, I would say the best thing to do is constantly take your mind off it for a bit and you won't notice it much and it will pass, I don't get this anymore so just remember it won't last forever x

Hi,

I find that Stress seems to have a negative effect on the body, pain may be caused partially from the fact that when stressed the muscles seem to be more tense increasing pain, and when focusing on the pain it seems to get worse, I find relaxation techniques useful to relax and help me focus on something other than the pain because once the stress pain cycle starts in keeps building unless I can get out of the cycle

Hope you can find some relief, it took me a long time to learn to manage my constant pain and I still really struggle at times of high stress, fighting against the pain makes it worse, but it is so hard to accept. try looking up mindfulness for pain relaxation techniques on the internet. I found this approach really helps.

Hope things get easier for you and don't forget you are not alone, there are people out there that will share their experiences and will try to help

It's a very old antidepressant which is also used for pain relief at a low dose still has side effects which is why I can't make myself take it though I know I should.im now struggling every day but I've had bad reactions to other antidepressant meds whichputsme off

Yes I feel like that too.

I remember something my councillor told me;

Imagine your a ball of paper all screwed up.... You leave the ball of paper to unravel... This is what our bodies feel like.

We get ourselves so tensed up, we don't realise we are doing it.

Check out Headspace , this is a good website to keep relaxed and calm xx

Sometimes it's worth the try especially if it will make you feel better. I wish there was a magic pill to make depression and anxiety just go away.

Yummiis right , check out headsapace, I did !.

I dont use it anymore but occupy myself with other things like art therapy and soothing music.

These days I just tend to get the butterfly stomach , which is also part of anxiety .

Try cutting down on caffeine, drink things like peppermint and camomile tea.

Mental anguish can cause physical pain, in fact stress enhances any physical pain you may already be enduring. Pain is felt in the brain coming from nerves firing off messages to it. When you're tense, your muscles tense and all this has a knock on effect. Also adrenalin can have a very negative affect on the body and releases cortisol a stress hormone into the body, too much stress can cause too much cortisol and lowers immunity which can cause inflammation, therefore, feeling pain much more often. The best thing is to have good nutrition and exercise such as yoga helps, avoid negative situations where possible, but face your fears that you feel you have to, plenty of rest and try to see the positivity even in a challenging situation. We all have these battles on a daily basis, always remember you are not alone and there are other people who understand. Also try controlled breathing, when we are stressed we tend to only use the top half of the lungs, which is inefficient and doesn't allow enough oxygen to our muscles, sit upright, place your hand on your stomach and make sure that when you breath in through your nose (not mouth) that your stomach rises (this indicates your diaphragm moving to accommodate a full lung full of air), then breath out through your mouth, do this a few times. Surprisingly a lot of people don't actually breath correctly even though you think it should come naturally, as adults we tend to learn bad breathing techniques through stress and this has a snowball effect on other aspects of our health. Practise this often and it will automatically calm you down. xx

Thanks for great reply Frankie

My neck and shoulders really take the stress. A good rub down from my boyfriend helps a lot. If I could afford it, I would get a regular massage. I had to see a doctor today because of back and hip pain but I do not think that is related to stress....I hope not, although perhaps if it was, I wouldn't have to deal with this pain so much of the time. I had to get a back brace and tomorrow I get an x-ray. 20 yrs ago I started with degenerative discs and have never seen a doctor in that time. I think it's time I get some treatment :) Best of luck to you my friend. Pain only seems to make my anxiety and stress worse.
